AG James Sued Again Over ‘Criminal’ Pill Testing Program

New York Attorney General Letitia James is once again facing legal challenges, this time over her reversal of an abortion pill protocol. The National Institute for Family and Life Advocates, Gianna’s House, Inc., and Choose Life of Jamestown, Inc. have filed a lawsuit against the attorney general, accusing her of using state regulatory power to prevent nonprofit pregnancy centers and their affiliates from providing information about abortion pill reversal.

The Abortion Pill Reversal (APR) procedure involves administering progesterone to a woman who has changed her mind about terminating a pregnancy after taking mifepristone, a drug used to initiate an abortion. The progesterone is intended to counteract the effects of mifepristone.

The lawsuit states that a woman identified as Maranda recently welcomed her daughter into the world after receiving information from “New Hope Family Services’ website about a method of using FDA-approved progesterone supplements, which physicians may lawfully prescribe under New York law, to save a developing child by counteracting the hormone-blocking effects of mifepristone.

The suit alleges that the attorney general is accusing New Hope and other pro-life pregnancy centers of spreading “false and misleading” information about progesterone treatment. James seeks an injunction and other penalties to censor their attempts to provide this information, according to Newsweek.

This action seeks to enjoin the Attorney General from targeting, chilling, and punishing Plaintiffs’ speech about progesterone treatment, and to declare that her actions violate Plaintiffs’ First and Fourteenth Amendment rights to speak freely, to practice their religion, and to due process under the law,” said the lawsuit.

Earlier this month, James faced a similar lawsuit from a coalition of anti-abortion groups, who claimed she was trying to prevent Christian pregnancy centers from promoting what they called the abortion pill reversal protocol.

The Abortion Pill Rescue Network states that studies of the APR procedure show a 64–68 percent success rate in allowing the pregnancy to continue. However, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the United States has not approved this course of action.

Jor-El Godsey, President of Heartbeat International, one of several pro-life groups named as plaintiffs in the suit, said in a statement that “New York State laws protect abortionists and abortion on demand up until birth. Now they are targeting those who assist a woman in exercising her right to continue her pregnancy.

In other news, political analyst Deroy Murdock has suggested that former President Donald Trump should sue James for allegedly violating his civil rights. Murdock made the statement following the decision of a New York appeals court to postpone the payment of Trump’s $454 million civil fraud penalty resulting from James’ lawsuit. Instead, the former president was instructed to pay a $175 million bond within ten days while he filed an appeal with the court.

Murdock restated his recommendations from an American Spectator article that Trump should sue James for remarks she made in 2018 when she was a candidate for New York state attorney general, Newsweek noted. He said that James declared that she was going to oppose the Trump administration because it was “too male, too pale, and too stale.

Now, you could talk about stale ideas, that’s fine, but too male and too pale constitute, basically, sex and race discrimination. So I think what President Trump ought to do is sue her based on the 1964 Civil Rights Act,” Murdock told Fox News.

Her office gets federal money for various subsidies for law enforcement activity. So federal money is flowing into her office and if she is engaged in that kind of sexual and racial discrimination and that kind of language, I think she’s wide open to exposure under the 1964 Civil Rights Act,” Murdock said.

Donald J. Trump should sue Letitia James based on civil rights,” Murdock added.
