However, Kidman’s relationship with her children has been more distant since divorcing Tom Cruise. When her son Connor married in a Scientology ceremony in 2019, she was noticeably absent from the event. It was reported that Cruise had prohibited his son from inviting Nicole to the occasion due to her status as a “suppressive person” in the church’s eyes.
An insider told Radar at the time that Cruise would never consider inviting Kidman to Connor’s wedding and has never looked back since turning his back on her. Despite not being seen in public with Bella and Connor since 2007, Nicole has spoken fondly of her children on occasion, revealing her enduring love for them. She has emphasized the importance of unconditional love as a parent and described her film Lion as a “love letter” to her children.
However, Kidman’s children have previously denied any rift within the family. Connor stated in 2014 that he and his mother are “solid” and that he loves her. Bella told MailOnline in 2016 that she talks to her parents and that anyone who says otherwise is “full of s**t.” She also referred to Kidman as her “mom” on Instagram, using the handle @BellaKidmanCruise.
In contrast to Kidman’s relationship with her children, Katie Holmes has a very close bond with her daughter Suri. The pair share an incredibly close relationship after Holmes retained full custody in their divorce agreement and moved to New York. Holmes’ secret weapon in breaking free from Scientology was her divorce attorney father, Martin Holmes, who helped orchestrate her sudden split from Cruise.
Divorce documents revealed that Holmes would receive $400,000 annually from Cruise in child support until Suri turns 18. The couple also agreed on medical and dental expenses, insurance, education costs, and college tuition for their daughter. However, Tom has not been seen out in public with his daughter for around a decade, and sources claim he now has little involvement in her life.
Nicole Kidman, meanwhile, is raising her youngest children, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, with her second husband Keith Urban.
