DC Council Approves New Regulations for Short-Term Rental Platforms, Uber and Lyft Drivers

On Monday 17th February 2025, The Charlotte Church Show returned to our screens after an eight-year hiatus. However, the show had undergone a major transformation since its last airing in 2017 – gone was the feisty teenage Welsh soprano with the big voice and even bigger ego, replaced by a softer, more mature woman with three children and a successful business venture to her name.

The show’s first episode back saw Charlotte Church, now 36 years old, sitting down for a candid interview with This Morning presenters Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes in front of a live studio audience. The hostesses were quick to remind their viewers that this was not the same young star who had wowed the world with her voice back in 1997, when she was just 12 years old.
“She’s softer now,” said Holmes, “less volatile and more thoughtful.”
Over the course of the interview, Charlotte opened up about how her childhood had shaped her, revealing that despite her early success, she had struggled with the pressures of fame and the expectations placed upon her by those around her.

“I didn’t have much of a choice at such a young age,” she said. “But I was too young to understand everything that was happening – the money, the attention, it all went to my head.”
She also spoke candidly about her relationships with men throughout her life – including her ex-boyfriend Steven Johnson, who had been described as a ‘nice boy’ by Charlotte’s mother.
“Steven and I were just kids when we got together,” said Charlotte. “I look back now and realise that he was never the right person for me.”

As for her current marriage to musician Matthew McGuire, Charlotte described their relationship as a true partnership, with both of them equally involved in parenting their three children – Frida, 14, Dylan, 9, and baby Ella, who will turn one in April.
“Matthew is my rock,” she said. “He has been such an incredible support to me throughout all of the ups and downs of my life.”
Following her interview with Langsford and Holmes, Charlotte took to the stage for a special live performance – singing a cover of The Beatles’ ‘Blackbird’. The audience was stunned by her still-impressive vocals, and the performance left all in attendance in little doubt that Charlotte Church had truly grown up into a wise and mature woman.
As she departed the studio, it was clear that Charlotte Church had come full circle – from brash young starlet to confident and fulfilled adult. And while she may have put her childhood fame behind her, there is no doubt that Charlotte’s talent will continue to shine bright for many years to come.
