In a shocking turn of events, a 40-year-old father of two, Ramazan Yilmaz, found himself in a life-threatening situation after a dental procedure gone awry in Turkey. Yilmaz, who had sought treatment for a toothache at a private dental clinic in Bursa, was informed by the dentist that his teeth were loose and required extraction, followed by dental implants.
Trusting the dentist’s expertise, Yilmaz proceeded with the procedure. However, during the surgery, the dentist allegedly attempted to forcefully insert one of the implants, ultimately piercing Yilmaz’s jawbone and reaching the area behind his eye, where the brain and spinal fluid are located.
Yilmaz recounted the harrowing experience, stating, “As he attempted to place the screw, I noticed he was exerting excessive force. I pointed this out to him, mentioning that I heard a bone-cracking sound. However, he reassured me that it was normal. But as he continued to force the screw, it pierced through my jawbone and into the area behind the eye where the brain and spinal fluid are located.”
The excruciating pain caused Yilmaz to scream, prompting the dentist to finally take an X-ray. Realizing the severity of the situation, the dentist rushed Yilmaz to the emergency department of Uludag University Hospital.
At the hospital, medical professionals immediately recognized the gravity of the situation and decided to proceed with emergency surgery. The operation, which lasted for hours, was a delicate and challenging procedure, but the surgeons successfully removed the screw from Yilmaz’s brain.
Yilmaz recounted the harrowing moments before the surgery, saying, “Before the operation, they warned me that I could lose my life. I made peace with my children and bid them farewell. Thankfully, I emerged safely from the surgery.”
After the ordeal, Yilmaz was discharged from the hospital and is now recovering. However, the aftermath of the incident has left him with more questions than answers. According to reports, the dentist, identified as A.D., has refused to refund Yilmaz and is claiming that the incident occurred “due to a medical complication.”
Determined to seek justice, Yilmaz is now taking legal action against the oral surgeon, hoping to hold him accountable for the alleged negligence that nearly cost him his life. This harrowing case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of thorough research and due diligence when seeking medical treatment, especially in unfamiliar settings.
