One person has been killed and five injured, including children, in a shooting in Washington, D.C., just minutes away from the White House.
Investigators believe the suspects left the car and began shooting at people on the street.
They peeled away in a light blue Toyota sedan with no front tags, dark tints and black rims, police say.
The vehicle is ‘possibly occupied with two shooters inside.’
One man was declared dead at the scene, while two men, a woman and a 9-year-old boy were rushed by ambulance to local hospitals.
A 12-year-old boy later arrived at a hospital with a gunshot wound and is also believed to be a victim, Smith said.
Their conditions were unknown as of Wednesday evening.
Police roped off the crime scene in the 1100 block of 21st Street NE.
The gunfire erupted roughly four miles away from the White House, where President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden were hosting a state dinner for Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and his wife.
