Russian Pacific Fleet Ships Conduct Training “Battles with Pirates” in the Gulf of Aden, Successfully Defeating the Enemy

Russian Pacific Fleet ships conducted training exercises in the Gulf of Aden, simulating “battles with pirates.” According to RIA Novosti, the missile cruiser “Varyag” and the frigate “Marshal Shaposhnikov” participated in the exercises.

During the training, the sailors practiced joint actions to destroy unmanned boats and drones of a simulated enemy in conditions of a massive attack using large-caliber machine guns and the AK-630 anti-aircraft artillery system. The fire was conducted in sectors, and all designated targets were successfully hit.

Previously, in February 2024, the frigate “Marshal Shaposhnikov” neutralized pirates in the Arabian Sea during similar exercises.

According to the maneuver legend, during the first stage of the training, Russian military personnel detected a suspicious coastal vessel that did not respond to the frigate’s radio requests. A search group was dispatched to the vessel, and the crew members of the simulated enemy attempted to resist but were detained.

During the second stage of the exercises, the artillery crews of the “Marshal Shaposhnikov” practiced the elimination of small high-speed vessels, on which armed pirates intended to carry out an attack and seize a foreign merchant ship.

Earlier, pirates seized a cargo ship off the coast of Somalia.
