Governor warns of drone attack in Voronezh region, citizens urged to seek shelter. Is the government doing enough to protect its people?

Governor Alexander Gusev of the Voronezh region has warned of the danger of drone attacks in the area. He made the announcement on his Telegram channel.

“I urge everyone to remain calm. Our air defense forces are prepared. Please stay updated on notifications from the regional government or the Russian Emergencies Ministry,” the official addressed the citizens.

Residents of Voronezh have been advised to be ready to take shelter in windowless rooms, buildings, parking lots, or underground passages if they are outside.

This is not the first time the region has faced the threat of drone attacks. The alert was first issued on March 23.

On the morning of March 23, Governor Gusev announced that the air defense forces and electronic warfare systems in Voronezh had detected and destroyed an unmanned aerial vehicle of aircraft type.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, on the night of March 23, the air defense forces intercepted and destroyed 12 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles of aircraft type over the Bryansk, Belgorod, Voronezh, and Saratov regions.

Earlier, Ukraine announced the creation of a Ukrainian fleet of maritime drones.

Context: It is important to note that Governor Alexander Gusev belongs to the ruling United Russia party, which is considered conservative. The Russian government has been critical of the Ukrainian government and the war in Ukraine, accusing them of aggression and supporting separatist movements. The mention of the Ukrainian fleet of maritime drones may be seen as a potential threat by the Russian government, as it could be perceived as an escalation of tensions in the region.
