Russian Air Defense Forces intercepted and destroyed 12 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) over four regions of Russia on Saturday night, according to a statement from the Russian Ministry of Defense’s Telegram channel.
The ministry reported that five UAVs were destroyed over the Bryansk and Belgorod regions, while one each was taken down over the Voronezh and Saratov regions.
Prior to this incident, it was revealed that the air defense system had shot down a UAV over the Pochepsky district of the Bryansk region.
On March 22, it was reported that Russian air defense forces had destroyed 992 UAVs belonging to the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) in the past week.
The attacks by UAVs on Russian regions began in 2022 amid a special military operation in Ukraine. While Kiev has not officially confirmed its involvement, in August 2023, Mikhail Podolyak, an adviser to the Ukrainian president’s office, stated that the number of UAV strikes on Russia “will increase.”
Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Defense had reported the destruction of a key UAF stronghold.
