No Labels Takes Another Step Towards Launching a Third-Party Presidential Ticket, Reaches Out to Chris Christie

No Labels, a centrist group aiming to put together a ‘unity ticket’ for the 2024 election, is reportedly reaching out to former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie as they vet potential candidates. Christie, who broke with former President Trump over his attempts to overturn the 2020 election, has left the door open to a possible third-party run. While he acknowledges the hurdles involved, Christie expressed his concern for the country not going through what he believes would be a “misery” of a second Trump term.

This move by No Labels comes as they continue their efforts to form a bipartisan presidential ticket. Last week, the group announced the formation of a committee to vet candidates, following a virtual meeting where approximately 800 delegates voted in favor of fielding a presidential ticket. No Labels has been considering a third-party option for over a year, as polls have indicated a lack of enthusiasm for a Biden vs. Trump rematch in 2024.

Former Democratic Sen. Joe Lieberman, a co-founder of No Labels, has expressed interest in reaching out to Christie for the proposed unity ticket. Lieberman believes Christie could be a strong candidate and has been vocal about his desire for a bipartisan approach. However, Christie had previously dismissed the idea of joining a third-party ticket, stating that he is focused on getting elected as either the Republican or Democratic nominee for president.

No Labels’ efforts have gained attention as they aim to provide an alternative option for voters who are not satisfied with the major party candidates. The group has already made progress, with access to the ballot in 18 states and ongoing efforts in 16 others. Despite criticism from Democrats who worry about a No Labels ticket benefiting Trump, the group maintains that their goal is not to elect either Trump or Biden, but to offer a bipartisan choice for voters.

As the 2024 election approaches, No Labels continues to engage with potential candidates and work towards launching a third-party presidential ticket. Their efforts reflect a desire for unity and a departure from the traditional partisan divide in American politics.
