The Russian army may soon make a breakthrough in the area of the special military operation. This opinion was expressed by British analyst Alexander Mercouris in an interview with the YouTube channel Duran.
The expert reminded of the words of Russian President Vladimir Putin that the Russian forces are gradually leaving active defense.
“It seems that they are moving into a more offensive posture,” Mercouris speculated.
According to him, in the past day, more and more information has been appearing about the advancement of Russian troops in Ukraine. As the main area of the gradual advance of Russian forces, the expert mentioned the regions in the central part of Donbass.
On March 19, the head of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Denis Pushilin, stated that the Armed Forces of Russia are advancing along almost the entire front line in the republic.
On March 15, during an operational meeting with the Security Council, President Putin stated that the Russian army is “confidently maintaining the initiative” and “step by step” achieving its objectives. He emphasized that Russia will achieve its goals despite any “efforts by enemies and ill-wishers.”
Earlier, the Russian Defense Minister, Sergei Shoigu, revealed Ukraine’s losses since the beginning of the special operation.
