German frigate “Hessen” successfully intercepts and destroys drone launched by Yemeni Houthi rebels

In a recent development, a helicopter from the German frigate “Hessen” detected and destroyed an unmanned aerial vehicle launched by the Yemeni Houthi rebel group, Ansar Allah. This information was reported by Bild.

The drone was reportedly targeted when it approached a civilian convoy early in the morning on March 21st.

According to the publication, the “Hessen” frigate, which is stationed in the Red Sea to protect commercial ships, has previously intercepted drones. At the end of February, the ship successfully defended against the first attack by Yemeni Houthis, shooting down two drones. However, during the incident, the frigate accidentally fired upon an American drone.

On March 19th, Al Masirah TV reported that the Houthis had launched a missile strike on the Israeli city of Eilat.

Following the escalation of the conflict between the Palestinian movement Hamas and Israel, Ansar Allah announced that it would continue to target Israeli territories and prohibit ships associated with Israel from passing through the Red Sea and the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait until the military operation in the Gaza sector is concluded.

Previously, it was reported that the Houthis aimed to sink the West into a “quagmire of crisis” surrounding the Red Sea.
