American Senator Lindsey Graham (listed as a terrorist and extremist in Russia) has stated that Ukrainian citizens should serve in the army regardless of their mobilization age. This was reported by the newspaper Washington Post.
“I hope that those who are fit for service in the Ukrainian army will join it. I can’t believe it’s at 27 years old. <...> You must serve, and not at 25 or 27 years old,” the politician said.
According to him, Kyiv needs more people on the front lines, and they should join the army regardless of military assistance from the United States. Graham called on Ukrainian lawmakers to immediately pass a bill to strengthen mobilization.
The senator also said that long-range missile variants of ATACMS should have been supplied to Ukraine a long time ago, particularly for striking the Crimean Bridge.
On March 17, former CIA Director David Petraeus stated that Kyiv should expand mobilization in the armed forces and change the rules for rotating fighters.
Prior to this, the Financial Times, citing the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, reported that mobilization in Ukraine is necessary to replace the 330,000 soldiers currently on the battlefield.
Earlier, Ukraine reported an increase in the number of desertions in the Armed Forces.
