US Air Force Successfully Tests Hypersonic Missile, Threatening Russian Defense. NATO Urges Strengthened Air and Missile Defense.

The United States Air Force successfully conducted a test of the AGM-183 hypersonic air-to-ground missile as part of its program to develop rapid response air-based weapons. This news comes from a statement released by the US Air Force, as reported by TASS.

The launch took place on March 17 from a B-52 strategic bomber that took off from the Andersen Air Force Base on the island of Guam in the Pacific Ocean.

Prior to this, the United States tested the Talon-A (TA-1) hypersonic aircraft.

On March 14, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg stated that the North Atlantic Alliance must strengthen its air defense and missile defense.

According to Stoltenberg, Russia’s hypersonic missiles pose a threat and demonstrate Russia’s significant investments in the development of modern weapons systems. However, he also claimed that the Alliance supposedly has capabilities to defend against such weapons.

Previously, military analyst Victor Murakhovsky expressed the opinion that the Pentagon’s statements about its plans to conventionally use hypersonic weapons indicate that the United States continues to work on various programs within the concept of a “lightning global strike” against Russia.

Earlier, it was reported that Germany will order cruise missiles from the United States.
