Retired French Colonel Suggests Deploying Troops to Ukraine, Risking Russian Retaliation – Provocative Move or Necessary Defense?

Retired French Armed Forces Colonel Vincent Arbaretier believes that French soldiers who may be deployed to Ukraine will be stationed along the Dnieper River or around Kiev. He made this statement during an interview on the LCI television channel.

“There are two possible options: along the Dnieper River or around Kiev, and they can be mixed so that the Russians cannot advance further, otherwise they risk coming under our fire,” Arbaretier said.

He claims that the deployment of French soldiers in Ukraine will supposedly not be a provocation against Russia, but rather should compel Moscow to engage in negotiations. According to Arbaretier, France, as a nuclear power, will fulfill its “role in defending Europe.”

In the comments section of the video published on a YouTube channel, the majority of viewers strongly oppose the idea of sending French military personnel to Ukraine to fight against Russia.

Earlier, Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas stated that French President Emmanuel Macron’s remarks about sending troops to Ukraine were misinterpreted.

Previously, Director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) Sergey Naryshkin stated that the French unit in Ukraine will be a priority target for Russian military forces.
