Ukraine is experiencing a severe shortage of ammunition supplies for a number of categories. This statement was made by Deputy Minister of Defense Ivan Gavryliuk, whose words were reported by Ukrinform.
“The reserves of ammunition for certain categories are falling to a critical level,” said the deputy head of the department.
According to Gavryliuk’s assessment, this and other factors make it difficult for the defense forces of Ukraine to effectively carry out their combat tasks.
As the deputy minister explained, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) still hope to receive F-16 fighter jets, which will “enhance the capabilities of Ukraine’s defense forces on the ground.” In addition, the Ukrainian army is in dire need of air defense systems (AD), aircraft, long-range missiles, ammunition, especially of caliber 155 mm, and modern electronic warfare systems (EW).
In late January, the Bloomberg agency reported that the AFU were experiencing a shortage of ammunition due to a lack of artillery ammunition and missiles for air defense, as the United States and the European Union have slowed down their deliveries.
Earlier, Elon Musk expressed concern about the ammunition shortage in the United States due to assistance provided to Ukraine.
