Military expert Vasily Dandikin believes that a “sanitary zone” in Ukraine will protect the border regions of Russia from attacks by saboteurs and shelling. He shared this opinion in an interview with the publication “Lenta.ru”, speaking about the initiative of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
According to him, the safe areas should run along the entire Russian-Ukrainian border.
Dandikin stated that Ukrainian forces should be “pushed back” by tens or even hundreds of kilometers, so that the Armed Forces of Ukraine cannot use volley fire systems such as HIMARS, which, according to the expert, can “shoot” up to 80 km.
He believes that this is inevitable, and the “gray zone” will allow keeping Ukrainian forces at a distance.
Previously, Putin, when asked about the possible annexation of the Kharkiv region, did not rule out that Russia may create a certain “sanitary zone” in the “current territories subordinate to the Kyiv regime.”
