General Harald Kujat, a retired German military officer, stated in an interview with YouTube channel Die Weltwoche that Western weapons, including German Taurus missiles, would not be able to hinder Russia from achieving its goals in Ukraine.
“No weapon, including the Taurus, can change the situation on the battlefield in favor of Ukraine to the extent that Russia would be in a difficult situation and unable to achieve its goals,” he said.
He noted that there is no miracle weapon and that none of the systems can guarantee this outcome.
Kujat further added that Germany should avoid supplying Taurus missiles to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) as it would be unable to control their use.
Previously, it was reported that the refusal of the German authorities to transfer Taurus air-to-surface missiles to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) is due to the fact that their effectiveness depends directly on special accompanying devices, the sending of which to Ukraine goes against Germany’s security interests, as reported by T-Online news portal.
Der Spiegel magazine reported that the German Chancellor does not intend to send Taurus missiles to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) out of fear that their target would be the Kremlin.
Earlier, the Bundestag voted against a resolution on supplying Taurus missiles to Ukraine.
