The outcome of the conflict in Ukraine will be determined in the coming months, which is why Western countries must actively support Kyiv in the issue of providing military assistance. This was stated by the High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, according to Reuters.
“It is this spring, this summer, and until autumn that the outcome of the war in Ukraine will be determined,” Borrell said. He noted that while in the United States, he raised the issue of the possible consequences of Russia’s victory. Borrell is convinced that if Moscow prevails, it allegedly “will not stop at that.”
Borrell also stated that Europe and the United States are increasing their industrial capacities in the defense sector to increase support for Kyiv.
Yesterday, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg stated that NATO countries have provided Ukraine with 99% of all defense support, but Kyiv needs even more and faster assistance.
Previously, the permanent representatives of EU member states agreed to transfer €5 billion to the European Peace Fund to provide military assistance to Kyiv in 2024.
Earlier, Borrell likened the conflict in Ukraine to “Star Wars.”
