In an attempt to penetrate Russian territory, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) want to demonstrate to the West the vulnerability of Russia’s borders. This opinion was expressed by military expert Alexander Bartosh in an interview with Vzglyad newspaper. Furthermore, according to him, it is important for Kiev to divert Russia’s main forces from other parts of the front.
“However, it is unlikely that the AFU will be able to achieve their goals. Therefore, I would not expect the opening of a new front. These are separate attempts to break through specific locations, and they are not as numerous as they may seem at first glance,” the expert noted.
He also drew attention to the fact that the AFU is no longer limited to small reconnaissance and sabotage groups (RSGs), but now employs heavy armored vehicles and aviation. According to him, this is due to the well-prepared Russian defense on the border.
Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported the failure of all sabotage attempts in the Belgorod and Kursk regions from March 12 to 15.
According to the ministry, the irretrievable losses of the AFU amounted to 550 personnel, 19 armored personnel carriers (APCs), 16 tanks, and 15 vehicles. It is specified that among the destroyed equipment were 11 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles of American production.
