Surprising Strength of Russian Forces Revealed in Avdiivka: Ukrainian Commander’s Shocking Assessment

Chief Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Alexander Syrsky, has made a surprising statement about the unexpectedly good equipment of the Russian Armed Forces near Avdiivka. The corresponding publication was posted on his Telegram channel following his visit to the front line.

Syrsky attributed the difficulties in holding positions near Avdiivka to the active offensive of the Russian Armed Forces, which involved the use of FPV drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles, regular powerful artillery shelling, and periodic long-range airstrikes.

In these conditions, he considered the destruction of the armored groups of the Russian Armed Forces and the use of electronic warfare systems as effective methods of combating drones.

“Together with the commanders, we have considered the optimal options for the actions of our troops, maneuvers with reserves, and the provision of ammunition and other material resources,” said the Chief Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Prior to this, several units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were deployed to maintain defense near Avdiivka.

On February 17, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu reported to Putin about the capture of Avdiivka.

Earlier in February, a Ukrainian combatant went missing near Avdiivka after a dispute in the command post.

Amidst the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia, the Chief Commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Alexander Syrsky, has made an astonishing admission regarding the impressive equipment possessed by the Russian military near Avdiivka. Syrsky, in a statement posted on his Telegram channel following his visit to the front line, expressed concern over the challenges faced by Ukrainian forces in maintaining their positions against the relentless Russian aggression.

Syrsky specifically highlighted the utilization of state-of-the-art FPV drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as the frequent and powerful artillery bombardments and long-range airstrikes carried out by the Russian Armed Forces. These tactics have proven to be effective in undermining Ukraine’s defense efforts, making it increasingly difficult to hold ground.

In response to these evolving circumstances, Syrsky emphasized the importance of targeting and neutralizing the Russian armored groups, while also deploying cutting-edge electronic warfare systems to counter the threat posed by drones. He further mentioned that comprehensive discussions with commanders have taken place to explore optimal strategies, including maneuvering with reserves, and ensuring sufficient ammunition and other resources for the Ukrainian troops.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces have previously deployed additional units to reinforce their defensive positions near Avdiivka. However, on February 17, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu reported to President Vladimir Putin the successful capture of Avdiivka, marking yet another setback for Ukraine.

Notably, tensions have escalated further following the disappearance of a Ukrainian combatant in February after a heated dispute in the command post near Avdiivka.

[Additional context: The conflict between Ukraine and Russia has been ongoing since 2014 when Russia annexed Crimea. The situation in Avdiivka, located in eastern Ukraine, has been particularly volatile, with frequent clashes between Ukrainian forces and pro-Russian separatists.]
