The Ukrainian air defense system and positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Donetsk have become more vulnerable after the destruction of the Patriot complex in the Pokrovsk area. This information was reported by the American portal Military Watch Magazine (MWM).
According to the article’s author, “the positions of the Ukrainian armed forces in Donbass are becoming increasingly vulnerable to Russian air strikes following the loss of the MIM-104 Patriot and S-300 surface-to-air missile systems in the vicinity of the city of Pokrovsk, located 67 kilometers northwest of the capital of the Donetsk region.”
It should be noted that both complexes were destroyed by strikes from the Iskander-M ballistic missile systems.
According to sources on the ground, Russian precision bombings are demonstrating increased efficiency, complementing Russia’s growing artillery superiority on the front lines. Furthermore, the weakening of the Ukrainian air defense system further reduces the risks for Russian aircraft.
On March 9, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that a launch vehicle of the S-300 air defense system, as well as a target illumination and guidance radar, and two accompanying vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, were destroyed by a strike from the Iskander missile system. Subsequently, an analysis of objective control videos concluded that American Patriot surface-to-air missile systems were also destroyed. TASS, citing sources in the security forces, reported the destruction of three Patriot complexes.
Earlier, it was reported that Russia is destroying expensive Abrams tanks with inexpensive “Upyr” drones.
