Russian forces are destroying the air defense systems of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) in order to launch an offensive on the front line. This was stated by Ukrainian political analyst Vadim Karasev in an interview for the YouTube channel “Yes, it is so.”
Karasev specifically pointed out the disabling of the Patriot anti-aircraft missile complexes (SAMs) and tanks. According to him, the Russian Armed Forces are attempting to clear the way for their army aviation.
“They are preparing for an offensive, which is why they need to destroy all the individual components such as Patriots, tanks, and so on,” said Karasev.
The political analyst added that conventional air defense systems cannot oppose Russian aircraft. We are talking about aircraft capable of carrying and dropping guided aviation bombs.
In this regard, the Russian Armed Forces are targeting American-made complexes that can reach their aviation. However, due to the loss of air defense assets, Ukrainian forces will have to “expose” certain areas on the battlefield, concluded the expert.
On March 13, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced the destruction of the Patriot SAMs in the zone of the special military operation in Ukraine. According to the department, Western equipment was detected on the territory of the Kharkiv region.
Earlier, the United States revealed the threat of destroying Ukraine’s air defense systems.
