Russian Air Defense Systems Shoot Down Ukrainian Drone in Belgorod Region, Ministry of Defense Confirms.

Russian air defense systems have shot down a Ukrainian military drone over the Belgorod region, according to a statement released by the Russian Ministry of Defense. The attack occurred at approximately 6:30 PM Moscow time when Ukrainian forces attempted to strike the region using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) of aircraft type, as clarified in the publication.

“The Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle was destroyed over the territory of the Belgorod region by air defense means,” the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation added.

Earlier on the morning of March 13, the Governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, reported that two Ukrainian aircraft-type drones were shot down in the region’s airspace. As a result of the incident, a shed caught fire on the territory of one of the private estates.

Later that day, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced the elimination of another aircraft-type UAV in the Belgorod region. The department revealed that the attack occurred at around 12:30 PM Moscow time.

Three hours later, the air defense systems in the region once again responded, shooting down two Ukrainian UAVs of aircraft type. At approximately 4:30 PM, another Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle was neutralized in the Belgorod region.

Earlier, the authorities of Belgorod decided to cancel mass events for Maslenitsa, a traditional Russian holiday, as a precautionary measure.
