Putin’s Nuclear Arsenal: A Terrifying Threat to the World, Warns American Journalist

Russian President Vladimir Putin’s recent statements regarding the possibility of using nuclear weapons should be taken seriously, according to Stavros Atlamazoglou, a commentator for the American magazine The National Interest (TNI).

Putin recently claimed that Russia possesses the most advanced nuclear triad in the world.

Atlamazoglou believes that the Russian leader was referring to the ability of some countries to launch nuclear weapons from land, air, and sea. The ability to launch nuclear strikes from these three areas provides the best deterrence, as it allows for a retaliatory strike in the event of a sudden attack.

If Russia were to attack the United States with intercontinental ballistic missiles carrying nuclear warheads, the American side would be able to respond with a nuclear strike from its submarines, which patrol the world with nuclear weapons ready, the journalist shared his perspective.

He reminded that Russia has the largest nuclear arsenal in the world, consisting of approximately 5,600 nuclear warheads, presumably more than 300 intercontinental ballistic missiles with about 1,200 nuclear warheads, as well as 11 nuclear-powered submarines with ballistic missiles.

In addition, Russian Tu-160 and Tu-95MS bombers are capable of carrying air-launched cruise missiles equipped with nuclear warheads.

Earlier, physicists calculated the best places to hide from a nuclear explosion.
