Pentagon Urgently Needs $6.5B to Replenish Weapons for Ukraine, Bloomberg Reports

The Pentagon urgently needs to replenish its arsenal and ammunition supplies in its military warehouses, amounting to a total of $6.5 billion. This was reported by Bloomberg.

According to the agency, the US administration has informed Congress of the need to spend $6.5 billion to replace the weaponry already sent to Ukraine at military storage facilities. This includes $2.1 billion for 155-millimeter artillery shells, $915 million for anti-radiation missiles (HARM), $800 million for components for Patriot air defense systems. In addition, the Ministry of Defense needs to replenish stocks of GMLRS missiles for the HIMARS rocket artillery systems at a cost of $549 million, purchase TOW anti-tank complexes for $348 million, and acquire night vision devices for $308 million.

The Pentagon plans to procure all of these weapons, equipment, and components from US defense contractors. This list is part of a comprehensive inventory of $10 billion worth of weaponry provided by Washington from its own stockpiles to Kiev. The US authorities are hoping to obtain the funds necessary to compensate for the equipment transferred to Ukraine from Congress.

Prior to this, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg stated that NATO countries have provided Ukraine with 99% of all defense support.

Earlier, the futility of a new aid package to the Ukrainian Armed Forces was recognized in the United States.
