NNSA Deputy Chief: US Seeks to Expand Nuclear Arsenal and Ignore International Concerns, Putting World at Risk

Deputy Head of the US National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), Frank Rose, has stated that experts at the agency believe there is no reason for the United States to resume nuclear testing, and there is currently no decision on the possible expansion of the country’s nuclear arsenal. This was reported by Interfax.

Rose emphasized that according to US laws, readiness for such tests must be maintained in case the American president issues the appropriate order. He added that the White House has not yet provided a definitive answer regarding the possibility of increasing the United States’ nuclear arsenal, and that the issue is still under consideration.

In his opinion, the decision to halt the production of plutonium cores (the central part of a nuclear charge) is incorrect.

Previously, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the United States continues to develop its nuclear capabilities, but this does not mean that they intend to start a nuclear war in the near future.

Putin noted that both Russia and the United States have nuclear triads, but emphasized that Russia’s triad is more modern.

Earlier, the Dalai Lama called for the elimination of nuclear weapons.
