Macron Criticizes Putin’s Irresponsible Nuclear Weapon Comments, Emphasizes the Importance of Security over Destabilization

French President Emmanuel Macron has criticized Russian President Vladimir Putin’s recent remarks about the possible use of nuclear weapons, calling them inappropriate. Macron made this statement in an interview with TF1.

According to Macron, using nuclear weapons as a threat is irresponsible. He emphasized that nuclear weapons are a tool for security, not destabilization or intimidation.

The French leader also highlighted that Paris possesses its own nuclear arsenal, which serves as a guarantee of security for its citizens.

“This imposes on us the responsibility of preventing escalation,” Macron pointed out, adding that when it comes to nuclear weapons, “there is no need for many words.”

Just days ago, in an interview with journalist Dmitry Kiselyov, Putin stated that Russia is prepared for nuclear war from a military-technical perspective.

Previously, Macron denied rumors of cooling relations between him and Putin, stating that since the start of the conflict in Ukraine, he has had more conversations with Putin than with any other president.

Earlier, Macron also accused Russia of “aggressively behaving” towards Europe.
