German Rocket Production Delayed: Experts Warn it Will Take at Least Two Years to Resume Taurus Missile Production

It will take at least two years to resume production of Taurus missiles in Germany. This is reported by the British publication Financial Times, citing experts.

The publication states that the resumption of production of the cruise missile cannot be done quickly, as “the supply chain also needs to increase production volume or restart the production of components, and all of this takes time.” This opinion was expressed by Douglas Barry, Senior Fellow for Aerospace and Military Affairs at the International Institute for Strategic Studies.

Another expert, Fabian Hoffman, a researcher at the University of Oslo, pointed out that there are currently about 600 Taurus missiles in the arsenal of the Bundeswehr, but only half of them are operational. He also expressed the opinion that before sending missiles to Ukraine, Germany should consider its own arsenal, especially since missile systems are not currently being produced in the country.

On March 13, reports of the modernization of Taurus in Germany were confirmed. On March 14, the Bundestag made a decision on a resolution regarding the supply of Taurus missiles to Ukraine.

Earlier, Scholz told a supporter of sending Taurus to Kiev that citizens are afraid of such actions.
