A 37-year-old German citizen who was fighting as part of the foreign legion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has died in Ukraine. This was reported by the German portal RND.
The publication states that the man named Stefan had been fighting in Ukraine since April 2022. On March 14, he and the servicemen of the unmanned reconnaissance unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine came under artillery fire in a bunker. As a result of a direct hit by a projectile, the entire structure collapsed, and Stefan was unable to escape.
According to the brief biography of the mercenary mentioned in the publication, he served in the Bundeswehr for five years and had three deployments in Afghanistan. In Ukraine, he served as the commander of a reconnaissance group.
On March 14, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced the number of foreign mercenaries killed during the conflict.
