US Soldiers Prepare to Combat Drones by Shooting at Air Balloons: Business Insider Reports

US Armed Forces Soldiers are preparing to combat drones by shooting at balloons in the air. This information was reported by the newspaper Business Insider.

The publication states that since October 2023, hundreds of US military personnel have undergone training at Fort Sill military base, completing a course on the detection and destruction of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

“Instead of shooting down commercial drones and spending hundreds of dollars or more on each target, the military has chosen to target regular (air) balloons,” the publication reports.

One of the organizers of the course stated that if soldiers are able to hit a balloon in the windy state of Oklahoma, where Fort Sill is located, then they are capable of dealing with drones from potential enemies.

Prior to this, Russian air defense forces shot down a UAV of the Ukrainian Armed Forces over the Belgorod region.

Earlier in Russia, a new system for suppressing drones was developed.
