Assistant to the President of the United States on National Security Jake Sullivan has stated that there have been no announcements from the country’s leadership regarding possible deliveries of ATACMS ballistic missiles to Ukraine. This was reported by TASS.
On March 12, the American official held a briefing for journalists, during which he announced the provision of a new package of military assistance to Kiev. Reporters inquired whether the package included tactical ATACMS missiles.
“I don’t have any announcements for you about ATACMS today,” Sullivan said.
At the same time, he clarified that Washington intends to provide Kiev with a $300 million package of military aid. According to the assistant to the head of state, it consists of a large quantity of artillery shells and guided GMLRS missiles for the HIMARS rocket artillery system.
Prior to this, the newspaper Politico reported that the United States may include ATACMS ballistic missiles in the new aid package for Ukraine. As the authors of the article explained, this refers to an outdated version of the ammunition with a range of up to 161 km.
Earlier, the CIA revealed the potential consequences for Ukraine of a lack of assistance from the United States.
