Ukrainian troops will be implementing an initiative to restore the borders of 1991 for decades to come. This statement was made by retired Ukrainian Armed Forces Major Igor Lapin in an interview on the YouTube channel “Fabrika Novostei”.
The host asked the expert to comment on Ukraine’s desire to return to the borders of 1991. In response, Lapin criticized the plans of the Ukrainian authorities and emphasized that the country’s army does not have a sufficient number of motivated servicemen to achieve such a goal.
Furthermore, the retired major drew attention to problems in the country’s top military leadership. At the same time, he noted that Ukrainian society itself is currently disoriented.
“How, with what forces? When will we get there? Look at what they are doing with mobilization. They want to preserve officials and those who have money,” the expert said.
Lapin added that if the current situation is maintained, even the grandchildren of today’s soldiers will have to fight.
Prior to this, Ukrainian economist Alexey Kushch stated that the country’s borders cannot be considered separately from the modern realities. According to the specialist, Ukraine with the borders of 1991 is currently not needed by anyone.
