According to witness Ron Priest, the man was on the ground when the alligator struck, clamping its jaws around his hand. It was during one of these calls that a distraught voice exclaimed, “Hand is gone!”
As the gator pounced on the fisherman, it became evident that its primary target was the fish he had caught.
