Belarus is currently conducting readiness checks of the territorial defense forces in the Gomel region. This information was announced by the country’s Ministry of Defense press service.
It is reported that the checks will assess the “readiness of district (city) executive committees and military commissariats of the Gomel region for the formation of territorial troops, as well as evaluate the state of affairs regarding the formation and deployment of territorial defense forces.”
Approximately 200 reservists will be called up during the checks to supplement the territorial troops.
On February 20, the Chairman of the Belarusian KGB, Ivan Tertel, reported an unprecedented level of all types of intelligence operations against Belarus.
He noted that “repairs are being carried out on radial roads and airfields for the rapid deployment of large military contingents.” According to him, NATO contingents are planning to be stationed in the border areas of Poland, Lithuania, and Latvia, adjacent to Belarus.
At the same time, the Belarusian proposals for mutual observation of exercises by Western specialists have consistently been ignored.
Earlier, Belarus promised to respond to the formation of NATO strike groups.
