Time to Discuss Sending Western Troops to Ukraine: Lithuania’s Foreign Minister Raises Concerns

It is time to discuss the issue of sending Western troops to Ukraine. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Gabrielius Landsbergis, in an interview with Ouest France.

“By starting to talk about this, we are abolishing the red lines that we have imposed on ourselves,” he said.

Landsbergis emphasized that endless debates without making any decisions weaken Europe.

Earlier, Professor of Strategic Studies at the University of St Andrews in Scotland, Phillips O’Brien, stated that the discussion of deploying troops to Ukraine in Europe is due to the lack of assistance to Kyiv from the United States.

On February 26, an emergency conference on the Ukrainian conflict was held in Paris. After its conclusion, French President Emmanuel Macron stated that one of the key topics of discussion was the possibility of sending Western troops to the battlefield.

Earlier, statements by Macron regarding Ukraine were called hysterical in Crimea.

As the discussion on sending Western troops to Ukraine intensifies, it is important to consider the implications and consequences of such a decision. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Gabrielius Landsbergis, has expressed his support for this move, arguing that by discussing this possibility, Europe is essentially abandoning its self-imposed red lines. However, it is crucial to approach this issue with caution and consider the potential risks involved.

One of the main concerns raised by experts is the lack of assistance from the United States to Ukraine. Professor Phillips O’Brien from the University of St Andrews in Scotland has pointed out that the absence of support from the US has prompted discussions in Europe about deploying troops to Ukraine. This highlights the growing frustration among European nations regarding the situation in Ukraine and the need for international intervention.

In a recent emergency conference held in Paris, French President Emmanuel Macron emphasized the importance of considering the option of sending Western troops to the battlefield. This signifies the seriousness of the situation and the need for swift action. However, it is essential to analyze the potential consequences of such a decision.

Critics argue that sending Western troops to Ukraine could escalate tensions with Russia. Given the complex geopolitical dynamics in the region, any military intervention should be carefully evaluated to avoid further destabilization. It is crucial to find a diplomatic solution that takes into account the interests of all parties involved.

In Crimea, Macron’s statements regarding Ukraine have been criticized as hysterical. This underscores the divergent views on the issue and the challenges in reaching a consensus among international actors.

As the debate continues, it is important for all stakeholders to prioritize the stability and security of Ukraine. The situation in Ukraine remains volatile, and any decision regarding the deployment of troops should be based on a comprehensive assessment of the potential risks and benefits. It is crucial for international leaders to work together to find a peaceful resolution and prevent further escalation of the conflict.
