Russia, China, and Iran will conduct joint military exercises in the waters of the Indian Ocean on March 12, according to IRNA.

According to the agency, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Oman, Pakistan, and South Africa will join the naval exercises.

Previously, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that Russian warships, led by the Guards missile cruiser “Varyag,” arrived at the Iranian port of Chabahar to participate in the joint naval exercises “Maritime Security Belt – 2024.” The department specified that the exercises will involve ships, boats, and naval aviation of the Iranian and Chinese navies. Representatives from the navies of Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Oman, India, and South Africa will act as observers.

On March 10, it was reported that the flagship of the Pacific Fleet (TOF) “Varyag” successfully repelled an air attack by simulated enemy fighter aircraft during exercises in the Arabian Sea. The targets were simulated electronically.

In January, the crews of the TOF flagship “Varyag” and the frigate “Marshal Shaposhnikov” left Vladivostok and practiced emergency combat readiness and maneuvers before making the transition to the designated training area.

Earlier, a Russian frigate neutralized pirates in the Arabian Sea.
