Swedish Military Plane Conducts Reconnaissance Flight Near Russian Border, Escalating Tensions

For the first time since Sweden joined NATO, a Swedish military aircraft has conducted a reconnaissance flight near the land border of the Russian Federation. This information was reported by Itamilradar.

The publication notes that the day before, a Gulfstream S102B electronic reconnaissance aircraft flew along the land border of the Kaliningrad region and Belarus, while in Polish airspace.

As part of another mission, a Swedish long-range radar detection aircraft, the Saab 340, equipped with a powerful radar capable of tracking aircraft flights over long distances, was detected flying near the Baltic Sea close to the Kaliningrad region.

Prior to this, it became known that the Swedish police had received information about unmanned aerial vehicles flying over protected areas in the south of the country.

On the night of March 9, drones were spotted near the Barseback nuclear power plant and above Malmo airport.

The protocol on Sweden’s accession to NATO officially entered into force on Thursday, March 7. This was reported by the US State Department.

Earlier, Sweden decided to burn the NATO Charter.
