US Laws Prevent Ukraine from Repairing M777 Howitzers, Leaving Armed Forces Defenseless. Foreign Policy Exposes the Troubling Consequences.

Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and their contractors are unable to repair M777 howitzers themselves due to American laws, according to Foreign Policy.

“Ukrainian companies do not have permission under US export laws to repair the barrels of American M777 howitzers,” the publication reports.

It is noted that the companies that could provide repair services to Kiev would inevitably create copies of American weapon parts, which would violate the intellectual property rights of BAE Systems Land & Armaments.

At the same time, experts and employees of the company do not have the opportunity to go to Ukraine to repair the weapons on-site due to restrictions on the movement of American diplomats without permission from the White House. This restriction also applies to weapons contractors.

Earlier, problems with ammunition shortages in the AFU were reported in the West.

It has recently been revealed how the shortage of ammunition is being compensated in Ukraine.
