Ukrainian prisoner of war Alexander Guprin has reported that his unit was expecting a ceasefire after the appointment of the new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Alexander Syrsky. He shared this information with RIA Novosti.
“We thought that Syrsky would come and do something, at least somehow. Well, resolve something. Maybe reach an agreement with Zelensky,” the prisoner said.
He added that they had no hope for a ceasefire under the previous Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Valery Zaluzhny. At the same time, he noted that Syrsky was born and educated in the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic (RSFSR).
Previously, it was reported that the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) was registering its officers at a homeless shelter in Mariupol. According to the agency’s information, Russian security forces discovered the relevant documents. According to the papers, the SBU was registering Ukrainian officers at the homeless shelter for the purpose of concealment.
As explained by the agency’s source, during the period from 2019 to 2020, more than ten servicemen were registered at this address. The shelter building was converted from a former detox center.
Earlier, Russia proposed creating a mechanism for integrating prisoners of war from the Ukrainian Armed Forces into civilian life.
