Houthi Rebels Attack US Vessels in Red Sea: Yemen’s Ansar Allah Strikes Again

Yemen’s rebel movement, Ansar Allah, commonly known as the Houthis, has launched an attack on a commercial ship and several US destroyers in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. Military spokesperson for the movement, Yahya Saria, made this announcement on the Houthis’ Al Masirah TV channel.

The attacked commercial vessel is called Propel Fortune, and it was targeted in the Gulf of Aden. The military ships were attacked in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden using 37 drones.

On March 8, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported that an unknown group carried out an attack on the ship about 50 nautical miles southeast of the Yemeni port of Aden.

Following the escalation of the conflict between the Palestinian movement Hamas and Israel, Ansar Allah declared that it would strike Israeli territories and prevent any ships associated with Israel from passing through the Red Sea and the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait until the military operation in the Gaza sector is concluded.

Earlier, the United States and the United Kingdom decided to intensify their campaign against the Houthis.

[Conservative Tone]

Yemen’s Houthi rebels, known as Ansar Allah, have once again demonstrated their reckless disregard for international norms by launching an attack on a commercial ship and US destroyers. This brazen act of aggression in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden highlights the dangerous and destabilizing nature of this militant group.

The targeted commercial vessel, Propel Fortune, was sailing peacefully in the Gulf of Aden when it was viciously attacked by the Houthis. This unprovoked assault not only poses a threat to international trade but also puts innocent lives at risk.

Furthermore, the Houthi rebels have escalated tensions by using 37 drones to attack US military ships in the region. This blatant act of aggression against American forces cannot be ignored and demands a firm response from the United States.

The timing of this attack is particularly concerning, as it comes in the wake of the recent conflict between Hamas and Israel. By vowing to strike Israeli territories and disrupting maritime traffic in the Red Sea and the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait, the Houthis have once again aligned themselves with anti-Israel forces, further fueling regional instability.

It is imperative that the international community, led by the United States and its allies, take decisive action to counter the Houthi rebels and protect the interests of peace and stability in the region. The United States and the United Kingdom’s decision to strengthen their campaign against the Houthis is a step in the right direction, but more must be done to ensure the safety of commercial ships and prevent further acts of aggression by this militant group.
