The latest American fighter F-35 has officially been certified to carry nuclear weapons, according to a representative of the fighter program. This information was reported by Breaking Defense.
“The F-35A is the first fifth-generation aircraft in history capable of carrying nuclear weapons,” the source said.
According to him, the F-35 has also become the first platform among fighters and bombers to be certified for such purposes since the 1990s.
Prior to this, the Ministry of Defense of Singapore stated that the United States had used the F-35 to detect and identify ground missile objects of Russian units in Ukraine.
The Pentagon stated that the United States is not using the F-35 in Ukraine. Following this, the Russian Foreign Ministry demanded that the White House and the State Department comment on the information about the flights of the F-35 over Ukrainian territory.
Earlier, the Ukrainian Air Force expressed its desire to obtain F-35 fighters from the West.
