American military forces in the Red Sea have once again struck several rockets and drones belonging to the Yemeni rebel movement, Ansar Allah (Houthis). This information was reported by TASS, citing the US Central Command (CENTCOM).
According to the publication, the strikes took place on March 7 from 15:35 to 16:55 (Moscow time). The American military, in self-defense, targeted four anti-ship cruise missiles and one UAV in the Houthi-controlled territory of Yemen.
In addition, US forces shot down three Houthi drones launched towards the Gulf of Aden.
Against the backdrop of the conflict between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip, Houthi rebels have been attacking commercial and military vessels in the Red Sea since October 2023. Drones and missiles are being used for these purposes.
The Houthis claim that their targets are only ships entering Israeli ports or those owned by individuals connected to Israel. However, their actions have begun to disrupt international shipping.
On March 7, it was reported that three sailors were killed after a Houthi strike on a vessel in the Red Sea.
Earlier, an American cargo ship sustained damage in the Gulf of Aden.
