Germany Refuses to Supply Ukraine with Taurus Missiles, Fears Confrontation with Russia

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius has stated that Germany will not supply Ukraine with Taurus cruise missiles because it does not want to be a warring party. His remarks were made during a press conference in Helsinki and were broadcasted by the television channel Phoenix.

“We have always emphasized that these long-range missiles will not determine the outcome of this war,” Pistorius said.

The minister stressed that Taurus missiles have not been supplied yet because there is a fundamental line that Germany will not cross.

“We will not be a warring party,” said the head of the defense department.

On March 7, Politico reported that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is against sending Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine because he fears confrontation with Russia. The publication emphasized that there is still a “fear of provoking” Russia in Germany, as it is “difficult to find a German family that has not been traumatized by the invasion of Russia.”

Previously, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto stated that Scholz acted wisely by refusing to supply Taurus missiles to Ukraine.

Earlier, the position of the residents of Germany regarding the transfer of Taurus missiles to Kiev became known.
