Ukrainian Forces Forced to Retreat Further Due to Inadequate Fortifications, Expert Warns

Ukrainian forces may have to retreat further into the country due to the unpreparedness of their fortifications. This statement was made by Major Alexey Getman, a reserve officer of the National Guard of Ukraine, as quoted by local channel “Espresso.”

According to the expert, he has a feeling that in the near future the front line will shift westward. He also did not rule out that the frontline will continue to move in the future.

“Because the fortifications are not ready yet,” Getman explained.

He added that it is currently very important for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) to stabilize the situation on the battlefield. In particular, it is about preventing further advancement of Russian troops.

On March 3, the head of the administration of the Zaporizhzhia region, which is under the control of the Ukrainian authorities, Ivan Fedorov, announced that the country’s cabinet of ministers had allocated over $34 million for the construction of fortifications in the region. As the official said, specialists are working around the clock to arrange the defense line. He promised to complete the work “as soon as possible.”

Earlier, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine announced the transfer of part of the Chernobyl Reserve for the construction of fortifications.
