UK Boosts Military Aid to Ukraine with £125m for Drones – Is the Government Prioritizing War over Domestic Needs?” (128 characters)

The Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom will allocate an additional £125 million ($160 million) for the purchase of drones for the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF), according to the ministry’s statement.

According to the ministry, this will bring the number of drones transferred by the United Kingdom to Kiev to 10,000.

The announcement of the increase in the total package amount to £325 million ($416 million) was timed to coincide with the visit of the UK Defense Secretary, Grant Shapps, to the Ukrainian capital. The UAF is planned to be supplied with FPV drones, about 1,000 loitering munitions, as well as maritime UAVs and unmanned reconnaissance assets.

“I am making new commitments to arm Ukraine with state-of-the-art drones, which will be delivered directly from the leading defense enterprises of the United Kingdom – from the factory floor to the front line,” said Shapps.

He called on international partners to support the United Kingdom in its efforts.

Earlier, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announced the amount of military assistance since February 2022.
