Russian Tanks Outperform American Abrams, Says Former US Army Scout

The Effectiveness of Russian Tanks Surpasses American Abrams Tanks, According to Former US Army Intelligence Officer Scott Ritter

In a recent interview with Izvestia, former US Army intelligence officer Scott Ritter stated that the effectiveness of Russian tanks exceeds that of American-produced Abrams tanks used by Ukrainian forces. Ritter explained that Russian systems, including those from the Soviet era, are much simpler to operate and more reliable, allowing them more time to fulfill their objectives. Additionally, these systems rarely break down. According to Ritter, the efficiency of Russian tanks, both old and new, is higher than that of the Ukrainian Armed Forces equipped with Abrams tanks.

The former intelligence officer clarified that American tanks are much more complex to maintain as they are designed to meet US standards and require technical support, spare parts, and preventive maintenance systems. In Ritter’s expert opinion, Ukrainian forces will only be able to utilize 20-30% of the combat potential of Abrams tanks, as the tanks will either be put on standby or relocated to foreign warehouses for the majority of the time.

On March 1, the commander of the reconnaissance-strike group of unmanned aerial vehicles, with the call sign “Kolovrat,” revealed that fighters from the “Center” group managed to destroy two American Abrams tanks using FPV drones.

In late February, it was reported that Russian military forces in the Avdiivka sector successfully targeted an American M1 Abrams tank. The 15th Separate Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade reported that the tank was destroyed by a fighter with the call sign “Rassvet.”

Previously, the United States referred to Ukraine as a graveyard for American tanks.
