Former WWE wrestler and congressional candidate, Dan Rodimer, turned himself in to Las Vegas police on Wednesday after an arrest warrant for open murder was issued against him. The warrant stems from an alleged altercation that occurred in a Las Vegas resort room in October, resulting in the death of Christopher Tapp.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, medical personnel responded to a call for help at the resort room on October 29. Tapp, who was inside the room, was taken to the hospital with injuries believed to be the result of an accident. Unfortunately, Tapp passed away on November 5, and his death was later ruled a homicide caused by blunt force trauma to the head.
Rodimer, a retired professional wrestler and former congressional candidate in both Texas and Nevada, surrendered to authorities and posted a court-ordered bail of $200,000. His lawyers, David Chesnoff and Richard Schonfeld, released a statement asserting Rodimer’s intention to vigorously contest the allegations and requesting that the presumption of innocence be respected.
The incident adds another controversial chapter to Rodimer’s political career. In 2020, he ran as a Republican candidate against Democratic Representative Susie Lee for Nevada’s District 3 but was unsuccessful. Undeterred, Rodimer later moved to Texas and participated in a special election to fill the seat left vacant by the late Republican Representative Ron Wright. However, he received less than 3% of the vote among the 23 candidates.
Prior to his venture into politics, Rodimer had a stint as a professional wrestler in the WWE from 2004 to 2007. His arrest and the murder charges against him have brought national attention to his name once again.
As the legal proceedings unfold, the public will be watching closely to see how this case progresses. The presumption of innocence must be upheld, and Rodimer will have the opportunity to present his side of the story in court.
