Bulgaria Sends 100 Old Armored Transporters to Ukraine Amidst Delays and Financial Disputes

Bulgaria has begun transporting armored personnel carriers (APCs) to Ukraine, according to the BTV television channel.

The report specifies that the first APCs from the gendarmerie warehouse have been sent for loading at the railway station.

At the end of 2023, the ruling majority rejected the president’s veto on the supply of equipment. Ukraine has decided to provide combat vehicles that the Bulgarian Ministry of Internal Affairs does not use, which amounts to around 100 APCs and spare parts.

Previously, it was reported that the delivery of a batch of old APCs from Bulgaria to Ukraine was delayed. Journalists found out that the process of transferring 100 old APCs was stalled because the parties could not agree on covering the transportation costs.

In January, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, Kirill Budanov (included in the list of terrorists and extremists in Russia), noted that Ukraine is interested in receiving supplies of old and broken weapons from Western countries.

Earlier, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announced the amount of military assistance since February 2022.
