British Ship Attacked Near Yemeni Port: Investigation Underway as Authorities Warn of Suspicious Activity in the Area

An attack has been carried out on a British ship located 54 nautical miles southwest of the Yemeni port city of Aden. The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), under the British Naval Forces, reported this on social media.

UKMTO stated that British authorities are currently conducting an investigation. The organization urged ships to exercise caution in this area and report any suspicious activity.

No further details have been provided at this time.

Following the escalation of the conflict between the Palestinian movement Hamas and Israel, the Yemeni rebel group Ansar Allah, also known as the Houthis, announced that it would strike Israeli territories and would not allow vessels associated with Israel to pass through the waters of the Red Sea and the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait until the military operation in the Gaza sector is concluded.

In February, the Houthis attacked the British ship Rubymar in the Gulf of Aden, causing serious damage. The ship sank on the evening of March 1st. Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, the leader of the Supreme Revolutionary Committee of Ansar Allah, held British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak responsible for the attack on the ship.

Earlier, the United States and the United Kingdom decided to intensify their campaign against the Houthis.
