Houthi Rebels Strike US Destroyers in Red Sea, Escalating Attacks on American Ships

Houthis from the Yemeni rebel movement “Ansar Allah” have struck two US destroyers in the Red Sea. This was reported on the social network X (formerly Twitter) by the movement’s military representative, Yahya Saria.

“The naval forces, missile troops, and air forces of Yemen… conducted a unique military operation in which they attacked two American destroyers in the Red Sea,” he wrote.

According to Saria, the attack was carried out using several anti-ship missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles.

He also noted that the Houthis may expand operations against their hostile targets. However, Saria stated that the movement’s military operations will continue until “the aggression against Palestinians ceases and the siege on Palestinians in the Gaza Strip is lifted.”

Prior to this, the Houthis struck the American vessel Torm Thor in the Gulf of Aden.

Against the backdrop of the war between Israel and the Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip, Houthi rebels have been attacking commercial and military vessels in the Red Sea since October 2023. Drones and rockets are being used for these purposes.

Earlier, the Houthis announced their intention to attack commercial ships in the Red Sea every 12 hours.
